Who We Are
Our website address is: https://motivatecourage.com.
Information We Collect
User Accounts and Profile Information
For users that register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile, such as username and email address. All registered users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
“My Journal” Entries
If you are a registered and logged-in user, you may use the “My Journal” feature to submit daily mood check-ins. The information collected via this form includes:
- Your selected mood for the day.
- Any optional text reflections you choose to enter.
This information is stored securely within our website database and is linked to your user account. It is intended solely for your personal reflection and review on the “My Journal” page. Only you, the logged-in user who created the entry, can view your past entries on the website. Website administrators may have technical access to the database but will not review journal entry content except as required for technical maintenance or legal obligations.
Security Services (hCaptcha)
We use the hCaptcha anti-spam service on our login and registration forms to protect the site from automated abuse. When you interact with these forms, your interaction data may be sent to hCaptcha for verification purposes. Use of hCaptcha is subject to their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. You can find more information here: hCaptcha Privacy Policy and hCaptcha Terms of Service.
Cookies
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article (as an administrator or editor), an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles or pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
As mentioned above, interaction data may be shared with hCaptcha when using login or registration forms for security purposes.
We do not otherwise sell or share your personal user data or journal entries with third parties, except as required by law or for essential website operation (e.g., hosting provider access).
How long we retain your data
For users that register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile indefinitely, or until the user deletes their account or requests erasure.
Data submitted through the “My Journal” feature is retained as long as the user’s account is active, or until the user chooses to delete specific entries (if that functionality becomes available) or their entire account.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including your profile information and any journal entry data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
User registration and login interactions may be sent to hCaptcha for verification as described above. Otherwise, user data is primarily stored and processed on our website servers.
